The Studio

I’m Christopher Gates.

I spent seven years at TechCrunch telling the stories Silicon Valley tells itself: founder profiles, the Disrupt stage, and Equity, the venture capital podcast I launched that went on to win a Webby Award.

Then I crossed to the other side of the table. At Lux Capital I helped build the firm’s direct content initiative and produced its Video AGM: every principal interviewed, the market and the thesis laid out plainly, delivered to LPs across every fund. The work ran through the rooms too, from founder summits and intimate dinners to LP gatherings and the annual meeting itself. Along the way I learned what limited partners actually read, watch, and remember, and what they quietly ignore.

CRG Studio brings that practice to a small number of venture firms. For each engagement I assemble the right team from a network of creatives built over a career, with close contacts across finance and tech media. The work spans the narrative itself, the films and content that carry it between raises, the rooms where it is felt in person, and increasingly the digital platforms that house it all.

How I Work

01

Listen

Engagements begin inside the thesis. I read the decks, sit with the partners, and find the through-line the firm already believes but has not yet said out loud.

02

Build

Then we make the things: the AGM film, the summit, the podcast, the platform. I produce rather than hand off, which is why the details hold.

03

Compound

Everything is made to be reused and to accrue. The film becomes the newsletter becomes the dinner conversation, so your next raise starts from belief, not reintroduction.

Christopher is a great producer who understands audiences from scientists and entrepreneurs to investors.
